"Dragonfly wings.  As a boy I played with an old victorian microscope from time to time, in the mahogany box it lived in was a small metal tin with a full set of dragonfly wings inside.

As I peered at those wings I marvelled at how nature could make anything so delicate, practical , aerodynamically perfect for their purpose and beautiful.

If you ever get the opportunity to study one you will also marvel at the delicate transparent membrane which appears to glow with delicate colours, that is something i have tried to capture in my sculpture so that viewers can get a sense of them, only without the microscope."
