Born in 1969, Shaun hails from the mining village of Wombwell near Barnsley in Yorkshire. He has always had a passion for art, particularly inspired by the works of Salvador Dali. His early career as a roofer introduced him to working with slate, which eventually led him to A sculptures from this material. His sculpting journey began with natural materials like slate and sandstone, often finding inspiration in the works of artists like Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, and especially Andy Goldsworthy, whose art greatly influenced him.
