COLIN CARRUTHERS ‘Reflections of Provence & The Riviera’

This exhibition of paintings at the Artifex Gallery, focuses on Colin’s love for the
light and atmosphere of Provence and the Cote d’Azur. The Cote d’Azur has long attracted artists and creators who were inspired by the natural beauty of the region. Monet arrived there in 1885, followed by a host of painters including Cezanne, Vang Goh, Matisse, Chagall and Picasso. It is no co-incidence that like the painters that have gone before him, Colin has become fascinated with the clarity and light and encapsulated by the beautiful blue skies and landscape of Le Midi. The
distinctive Aleppo Pines, so typically Mediterranean, often now feature in his French coastal paintings, along with many familiar wild flowers that grow in the hilltop villages of Provence.
-There will be around 15 French landscape and seascape paintings available following Colin’s recent travels to France. -
Created on his travels to this beautiful part of France,Colin takes inspiration from the vivid, jewel-like colours of the sea and skyand its distinctive flora, such as the Aleppo Pines and wildflowers, and bringsthem all together in this stunning new collection of paintings.
