Blandine Anderson - Yesterday’s Parties

4th - 26th October 2025

This exhibition shows a collection of stoneware and porcelain pieces on the theme of creatures associated with rituals, celebrations and significant dates in the old calendar: from personal commemorations of birthdays and zodiacs to wider communal festivals and beliefs. The work is accompanied by a collection of framed relief prints and a booklet of ten poems on the same theme, written and illustrated by the artist.

The twelve days of Christmas

Many of the events in our calendar have their roots in folklore, ancient superstitions and pre-industrial observations of the natural world. Their origins may be lost to us, but they are with us still, absorbed into modern culture, re-worked and misrepresented, living on in distorted and ambiguous form. Others have fallen into obscurity and are barely remembered at all.
